we have been given the task of producing a short nature documentary to last about ten minutes. My idea, based upon personal observation of local wildlife is "a Day on the Medway", focusing upon the wildlife of the Medway river as it is outside the university accommodation at Doust way.
My idea has been generated through personal experience with said wildlife, I've seen the birds, the mice and once, a fox. I've seen at least three different kinds of birds from the smoking area, a single mouse and a single fox. I'd like to focus upon the foxes and rodent species found. this is because, unlike the birds they are in some ways easier to wrangle examples of on demand than their avian neighbors.
I'd like to format it by using a 24hr cycle, literally a day in the life of the local fauna. this could be intertwined with the stories of residents in relation to that, the foxes for instance are almost certainly "urban foxes" and an interesting conflict could be their interactions with the local people.
I started by researching who's responsible for the wildlife, the port, and the land along the Medway, I haven't done any in depth or research yet, however I now have a list of useful links and organisations, they are listed below:
EDIT: these links where used extensively in the planning stages of the above mentioned production, this ended up being scrapped however these links were still used as a research resource as late as the final production. the list was distributed to all team members and all of these links where crucial in the development of the initial production.
